We are pleased to announce special lectures by Prof. Wimal Hewamanage, Professor at the University of Colombo on 23rd and 24th April 2024 at the K. J. Somaiya Institute of Dharma Studies. 

1. A special lecture on the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti will be delivered on Buddhist Perspective on Aesthetics: Conceptual and Empirical Approaches on 23^rd April 2024 from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm.

2.  P. V. Bapat Memorial Lecture on Jain Studies in Sri Lanka: Past, Present and Future on 24^th April 2024 from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm.

Venue: Room No. 303, K J Somaiya Institute of Dharma Studies (Same for both the lectures)

About the Speaker 

Prof. Wimal Hewamanage is currently working as Professor at the University of Colombo.  He served as the Sri Lankan Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Colombo and Coordinator of Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies from 2019 to 2022. He received the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence - 2018, and the Senate Award for Research Excellence - 2019, University of Colombo.

He has been working as a Visiting Lecturer at International Buddhist College, Thailand, and Malaysian Buddhist Academy, Malaysia. He has published several books and also research papers in national and international refereed journals.
